If you are new or and experienced shooter this course will provide you with the basic fundamentals of pistol shooting to increase your skills.
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course consisting of instruction and a hands-on practical portion at the range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. This course is eight hours and is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation.

Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting and pistol inspection and maintenance.
During the training of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling, loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification

Course Goal: To teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
To qualify for the class you need to be 21 years or older. If you are under 21 please contact Chuck Sparks.  
The class will be held at the Desert Marksman on the Black Powder/Small Bore range, you should bring lunch and drinks as no services are available on site. You may want to bring a folding chair to sit in (there are some picnic tables located at the range, but seating is limited.
You will need: eye and hearing protection, a pistol, revolver or semi-automatic in caliber of your choice and a minimum of two hundred rounds (200) of ammunition for the pistol you will use to shoot the qualification with. If you do not have a pistol please contact Chuck Sparks.
